The Contrary Cook: Beating Diabetes One Bite at a Time

Oatmeal for Breakfast

11/29/2008

I’ve heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and yet I never eat breakfast. Today I bought some Quaker Oats and a 1/2 cup measuring spoon to leave here at work.  If I don’t have time at home, I can always use the hot water tap on the office coffee maker to make some oatmeal.

It turns out that a 1/2 cup of oats fills about half of one of those white styrofoam cups…fill the other half with hot water and I’m good to go. And yes, I know that using those cups isn’t good for the environment. I’m sure that I’ll become more environmentally conscious as I start paying more attention to what I consume. One step at a time, grasshopper.

It says on the box that it will reduce my cholesterol, which reminds me, I haven’t been to the doctor in a few years. I should probably go and get checked out so I have a baseline for success or failure.
